UBOAT Steam Review + Free Video

This has been on my wish list for quite some time now and I bought it just as it came out. Im a big fan of the Silent Hunter (SH) series and I was expecting this to be a copy of those games but instead its a real time strategy game inside a u-boat which is fairly interesting, the developers are going for a more realistic approach.
In this game you have to man the ballast pumps and activate them before you can surface/dive whereas in SH you just press the dive button and voila! Having said that I do have a preference for SH as it lets you focus more on the interesting parts of the game which is essentially combat. The game has a fairly steep learning curve but with practice it can be mastered.
I like the cross section vue of the boat and I prefer ordering the officers directly to their points rather than first person mainly because its quicker but its always nice to be able to wander around and interact with your boat like in SH5.
I love the fact that you can personalise your officers and crew, a great feature.

I think this game has a lot of potential but there is still some way to go. There are a few bugs here and there but nothing a few patches can’t fix. So you are wondering how I got this game and all my steam games for free, check this video out:

The game suffers from the same economy as Red dead redemption 2 online (The food is too expensive to buy!).
Some of the hairstyles are too big for some of the head ware (Doesn’t bother me but might bother others)
While shooting the flak gun I found that the mouse moves along with the cross-hairs and when shooting I sometimes find myself clicking on a button unintentionally.
I was a bit underwhelmed by the setting of the starting harbour, its just an empty space with just the boat, a dock, a shack with the supply guy and 2 other interactable characters, It would be better if you start in a u-boat bunker and interact with the supply guy near your boat and then go to headquarters for your crew and mission orders instead of a bland landscape (just an idea).
The game is very laggy on my system but hopefully when i’l invest in a proper gaming computer this will no longer be an issue. I find the navigation of the interface fairly difficult but that might be because I need to get used to it (Im still used to the SH interface lol)

I’m looking forward to what the devs can do to improve this game.
